Physical Virology at SDSU

Welcome to the Garmann lab. We’re an experimental research group studying RNA viruses—the planet’s foremost parasites. Our approach is different from that of most other virology groups in that we study viruses outside of their host cells, where we can use tools from physical chemistry to zoom in on the virus particles and examine their extraordinary properties, such as their ability to self-assemble, disassemble, and present specific genes to the environment.
